One of the biggest markers of a well-maintained property, is a beautiful driveway.
If you have an existing asphalt driveway that is showing its age, having it resurfaced can be a cost effective and attractive option.

What is asphalt resurfacing?

This is the practice of removing the entire top layer of asphalt from your existing driveway, and repaving it with a fresh layer.
This is an excellent, cost effective option if your current driveway has a good foundation. If there is no significant damage to your driveways foundation, resurfacing can buy you another 10 to 15 years before replacement will be necessary. This is where hiring an experienced asphalt resurfacing contractor is important – otherwise the effects of asphalt resurfacing simply won’t stand the test of time.

Before resurfacing, all cracks, holes, and low points will need to be filled. Any high points in the driveway will be ground down. Once the surface is prepped, a tack layer will be put on to ensure good adhesion to the old substrate, and the new asphalt will be laid. The effect will be a driveway that is essentially as good as new.

However, all this is only possible provided your existing pavement has a structurally sound foundation. Resurfacing a driveway that has a compromised base layer will result in imperfections quickly showing through the new pavement, and even more expense.

We will always try to accommodate a driveway resurface before resorting to a repave or replacement for our customers, as it is always a more cost effective option. However, a driveway is only as good as what it’s laid on. Our experienced team of asphalt contractors will be able to quickly identify the integrity of your driveways foundation, and give honest advice on the best way to proceed.

If your foundation has been incorrectly laid in the past, or your asphalt pavement is simply very old, we will be happy to assist in a full driveway replacement – where you can count on a quality driveway with a sound foundation that will stand the test of time.

If your driveway is coming to the end of its life, and beyond repair, we will strongly recommend an asphalt replacement. While a new asphalt driveway is more expensive than having your current pavement resurfaced, there will reach a point when the maintenance costs of an old driveway that has been resurfaced will outweigh the costs of a new install.
With a new install, provided you hire an experienced Fort Lauderdale

Maybe you’re considering asphalt vs concrete driveways, and weighing up the pros and cons of both. Asphalt has many advantages over concrete, and we don’t just say that because we’re in the trade!
It’s cost effective:
Asphalt driveways on average, costs 30% - 40% less per square foot than a concrete driveway of the same size.
It’s cures much quicker:
Asphalt can be driven on almost immediately, whereas a concrete driveway will need 7 days to cure before having any vehicles on it.
It’s better in extreme weather:
Asphalt is naturally very flexible. It contracts and expands well with fluctuating temperatures. Concrete pavement can be susceptible to cracking in extreme weather and heavy loading conditions.
It’s easier to repair:
Repairs are cheaper and less noticeable on asphalt pavement. Concrete repairs can be expensive and can easily be spotted as a repair.
Gas and oil spills are less noticeable:
Asphalt pavement hides oil and gas spills well. Concrete pavement stains easily and can be difficult to clean.
